Dr. Siegfried O. F. Schmidt MD, PhD.

Dr. Siegfried Schmidt's credentials are many faceted. He was born in Burgsteinfurt, Germany and received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Aachen in Germany. He went on to receive his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Cologne, Germany. He served dual internships, at University Hospital in Cologne and in the U.S. at Alachua General Hospital, University of Florida, at Gainesville. After completing his residency at Alachua General Hospital and Shands Teaching Hospital of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Dr. Schmidt was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice. He is Clinical Associate Professor and Medical Director, Department of Community Health and Family Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Florida. Dr. Schmidt has various publications. The latest reached national attention and was published in The Annals of Pharmacotherapy. In 2001, he was given the honorary title of "Best Doctor" by his peers.
Dr. Schmidt supervises the medical portions of all of our home study education courses. His clinical interests are in chronic health conditions like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, coronary artery disease, thyroid problems osteoporosis, hematuria and hematology issues. He has extensive experience in women's health including menopausal issues and men's health including sexual dysfunction. He also assists patients with chronic pain conditions like osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and myofascial pain syndrome, migraine/ headache-disorders, and chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome. He has served as a consultant on preventative medicine, occupational medicine, alternative medicine, clinical quality issues, medical ethics, legal issues and risk management.
