Ernest Lado, Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida, College of Dentistry, has guided the development of several home study education courses. A graduate of Georgetown University - College of Dentistry, Dr. Lado was in clinical practice for thirteen years before returning to the academic world he loves. He has been published in numerous journals, including Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology; the Journal of the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Journal of Endodontics.
Dr. Lado's clinical and teaching assignments have been in the areas of treatment planning, radiology, and emergency dental care and medical emergencies encountered in the dental office. He has administered the UF Sterilization and Monitoring Service since 1989, providing consultations on infection control issues and OSHA compliance to private practitioners. He is a member of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR), American Association of Dental Schools (AADS), and Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). He serves on the Publications Committee of Organization for Safety & Asepsis Procedures (OSAP).
Dr. Lado's areas of research have included papers on the proper use of the electric pulp tester and clarification of test results, diagnosis and classification of toothaches, cervical root resorption due to tooth bleaching, evaluation of the efficacy of hard surface disinfectants, and use of over the counter (OTC) and alternative remedies. He has been published in many respected journals including Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Operative Dentistry, Annals of Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Journal of Endodontics, and the Journal of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Lado has developed a reputation for organizing scattered information into cohesive, structured educational opportunities.
