Dr. Thomas B Fast, DDS, MSD
Professor Emeritus Of Oral Medicine
Dr. Fast received his D.D.S. (cum laude) from Ohio State University, School of Dentistry in 1958, completed an internship in Oral Surgery at Marion County General Hospital, and earned his M.S.D. in Oral Diagnosis/Oral Medicine at Indiana University School of Dentistry. A lifelong dental educator, Dr. Fast recently retired as a Professor Emeritus Of Oral Medicine, Department Of Oral Diagnostic Sciences, University Of Florida College Of Dentistry.
You have probably read many of his articles on emergency preparedness and oral diagnosis in dental offices. He has been published in Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Dental Clinics of North America, Journal of Oral Medicine, Florida Dental Journal, International Journal of Orofacial Myology, and JADA, to name a few. He also coauthored the textbook, Oral Diagnosis/Oral Medicine with D. F. Mitchell, D.D.S., Ph. D. and S. M. Standish, D.D.S., M.S. As his "Mastodons of Dentistry, Unite!" (FDA Dispatch, 1983) illustrates, he brings a light touch and sense of humor to his work that permeates his Emergency Preparedness courses for home study education. His medical emergencies courses come in two formats, an interactive course in medical emergency management and a workbook on emergency preparedness.
